April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her journey in music as a 7th grader in which she began piano and guitar classes. When she was in seventh grade, April began taking guitar and piano classes. It sparked her interest to write songs. When April was 14 years old, she spent the majority of her time developing song ideas and perfecting the music. Then, she began going to NY and LA together with her father in order for them both compose songs. April began including other topics in Take My Hand for those of her peers who struggled in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart is a partner at famous Clean Beauty brand Ilia and also is an influencer in the lifestyle industry who has a growing fan base. Lockhart was never born with a left hand, and that is why she's who she is. However, that's not the full story. Lockhart acknowledges her handicap on Instagram, but she does not make it the main focus of her story. What message is it sending? that we are all a part of a multitude and that we are all unique and that we are beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart said via video that she didn't want to be defined by her physical disability. She doesn't want to be a disability advocate who only speaks about it. There are many aspects to Lockhart. And it doesn't affect my everyday life. I go about things normally, and I've discovered the best way for me to adapt to things. But, I consider that it is a crucial part of myself. Lockhart has been a great inspiration to her fellow women in the area of self-acceptance. She still admits having gone through a few phases regarding her appearance, feeling uncomfortable in certain situations wearing outfits that showcased her arms. Today, she wears anything she likes and uploads photos in those outfits to social media with pride. The self-love she talks about is a journey. It's hard to say whether you'll get to the point of no return. However, I believe that's the case with everyone with whatever they are struggling with. It's important to have people in your life who know and appreciate your situation. They will be the ones who ask what you worry about?
